A Birthday Psalms

Featured

Hi Jesus! It’s my birthday!

Thank you for making me. Thank you for molding me. Thank you for saving me. Once and for all but also every day.

You’ve been rescuing me for years. You’re my refuge and my song. My strength and my love. The One who knows me, gets me and loves me no matter what. The One who fills the gaps in the human heart. The One who lifts my head and heals my wounds.

You have never left me. You’ve always loved me. You have always had a plan and purpose for me.

Through the power of Your Spirit, You equip me. You make me brave. You hear me. You teach me. You forgive me. You make me nice.

Your timing in my life has been perfect. Your faithfulness goes beyond my grasp.

For this year, God, may I trust You even more and know You deeper still. Will you give me holy confidence and Gospel humility?

Help me to think of myself less and think of You and others more. Help me to see You in everything. Help me to know and feel Your strong presence. Help me to share the Gospel as you have called me too. Boldly. Authentically. Lovingly.

Help me look to You for my strength, security, hope and all. I can’t do it on my own.

May I be so sensitive to the Holy Spirit’s prompting and leading. May I be still and learn from you. Grow me. Change me. Sanctify me.

May I reflect Your Son in a world that needs Him.

May I love my children and be nice and loving to them. Teaching them of You by how I live and forgive.

Give me great, deep joy for this journey. No matter what. You hold it all and I can trust You. You have shown me that over my 42 years. You. Are. Trustworthy.

You’re it. You’re all that matters. You’re the reason we live and breathe. You’re our hope. You’re who we long to see. Here and now and also an eternity.

May my family love You and follow You in a way that isn’t normal. May You put a bubble of protection around us and not let it pop! Help us to keep our eyes on You and to love others well. To be generous with what we have. To BD and THJPL. To shine for You by loving others.

Help us to see others in Your light and with the lens of Your grace. Show us where to help. Guide us. Help us to live for You.

Thank you for 42 years today. I pray for many, many more. But. To live is Christ to die is gain!

In Jesus name, amen.

My Thoughts ~ a Poem and Prayer

Featured

Does anyone else ever struggle with thoughts that carry you away from reality? I went through a terrible season of that a few years ago. While these words are from that time, and the Lord has done a work on my thoughts and mind, I am still in continual need of mind-renewing. Grateful He is our help for just that! For more on this click here.

When my mind is a mess, what can I do?                                                                                 My thoughts, oh Lord, you must renew!

My heart and soul love You but my mind seems so stuck.                                                    Please, dear Father, lift me out of this muck.

Teach me your ways, help me know You are near.                                                               Teach me to live my life without any fear.

Keep the distracting thoughts at bay;                                                                                        for only You can make a way.

Reign in my heart, reign in my head.                                                                                         Only by You may my spirit be led.

May I think on things pleasing to You.                                                                                       My thoughts, oh Lord, continually make new!

In Your son Jesus’ name I pray.                                                                                                   The name above all and only way.

W O R L D ~ Five Minute Friday

God created the world and everything in it;

But how often we look to this world to fulfill us.

To fill this hole inside our souls

An aching to belong and to be known.

When we already are so known, so loved by our Creator.

How often we miss it because this world distracts.

It vies for our attention but leaves us in lack.

Of the goodness and grace of the Father above

Of forgiveness and kindness, gentleness and love.

This world is a world in which sin gets its way

It destroys and deceives and ruins our stay.

But hope has a name, it’s Jesus Christ

None can compare. None can compete.

With the healing, freedom and wholeness He brings

to His children, surrendered, fallen on our knees.

Giving it up to Him this place in our souls

Granting the Maker complete control

One with the world or one with God?

It’s one or the other- which way do we fall?

Q U E S T I O N ~ Five Minute Friday Writing Prompt and Blog Link Up

“Question” is the writing prompt for today from the Five Minute Friday writing prompt. The following is what came to my mind and heart ♥️

“W I L L Y O U ?”

Will you follow Me today, my child? Will you?

Will you take My hand and let Me be your guide?

Will you let Me lead the way and open your heart to all I have to say?

Will you?

Will you rest in Me and My love for you? Will you look to Me to make you new?

Will you?

Will you shine like a star in the nighttime sky?

And spread My love as the day goes by?

Will you?

Will you know of the grace in each step you make?

Whether tethered to Me or making a mistake?

Will you?

Will you die to yourself so you can really live?

For in your place, My Son did I give.

Will you walk today in light of the cross? With eyes on Jesus, there is no loss.

A question for today, My dear child I love you so…

will you stay with Me or will you go?

On your own way, doing as you please?

With temporary pleasures this world tries to appease.

To temp you with things too small to make you whole,

to fill you with distractions that is the enemy’s goal.

Will you know that in Me you will truly be free?

I will open your eyes and you will really see.

Will you let Me reign in your life and soul?

Will you abide in Me so I can make you whole?

I will show you the way and help you live. This side of heaven My Holy Spirit I give.

Walk with Me, take My hand.

I will lead you to the promised land.

I’ll be with you every step of the way and always remember to take time to pray.

You have My Word to hear Me speak, get in it daily and you won’t be weak.

Worship Me and show others the way,

Will you follow Me today?

Something Brand New

IMG_2998

Lord we need something brand new.

It can only be done with our eyes on You.

May our foundation be ever so strong

Built to last a lifetime long.

Built on You the ground floor is laid

Brick by brick the price has been paid.

You poured out your love for us on the cross

Our gain of Heaven in Christ’s brief loss.

He was resurrected, redeemed and restored

You still do this here and now, don’t you, Lord?

A plan you have a future you hold

A love story in us waiting to be told

Work mightily in our hearts today

You, Oh Lord, are the only way.

Happy Resurrection Sunday dear friends! Praying we all set our hearts and sights anew today.  Jesus is continually in the business of making all things ~ and anything ~  new. No better time to start than today, Easter Sunday 2019.

Have a wonderful day celebrating Jesus and the beauty He brings- in worship, in our children, in our marriages, in our faith. Praising Him today. Love you all, Sarah

Give Them Grace

17925949_mlGIVE THEM GRACE

We never know what someone is walking through…but we can give them grace

We don’t know what they have been through…but we can give them grace

We may not know why they do what they do…but we can give them grace

If God looks at the heart…then shouldn’t we try to, too?

Just give them grace, just give them grace

By praying for them, not whispering about them…we can show them grace

By lifting them up, not putting them down…we can show them grace

Being tender-hearted, kind and forgiving…we can show them grace

With humility, compassion and love…we can show them grace

If any of this we lack, we can ask of God…who gives us grace and shows us grace

Unending

Unfailing

Abundant

Grace…after grace…after grace

So give them grace, just give them grace

“As I have loved you, so you must love one another.” John 13:34b

In the Manger Lay

/home/wpcom/public_html/wp-content/blogs.dir/07f/54734968/files/2014/12/img_7535-0.png

In the tiny manger lay
A gift for many, all who stay

A gift of love, a gift of peace
A gift undeserved yet it won’t cease

A gift for you, a gift for me
Eternal life given so generously

He came to serve, He came to die
Our hearts and souls to sanctify

Come to the manger and come to the cross
The place where our gain was His loss

His perfect life was a ransom for many
For freedom, grace and strength aplenty

So do you stay or do you go?
Come and see Jesus and you will know

Merry Christmas friends!!!
All my love, Sarah
