Happy Sunday!

I love Sundays! For my family, it’s church and family day and a day I cherish and look forward to all week!

This morning I am reminded of Hebrews 10:24-25:

“Let us think of ways to motivate one another to acts of love and good works. And let us not neglect our meeting together, as some people do, but encourage one another, especially now that the day of His return is drawing near.”

How busy life can get sometimes and often the first thing to go is church…sometimes it’s so much easier just to sleep in on Sunday mornings.  For us, it’s my (amazing) husband’s only day off of work so I am very tempted from time to time to just stay in our PJ’s all day and hang out but I know how much God desires His children to meet together.

The main definition of church is “a building used for public and especially Christian worship.”  Wow it is so much greater than that right!?  In researching more, I finally found a definition worthy of more (Merriam-Webster):

church: a body or organization of religious believers; the body of Christians

Oh how church is more than just a building we enter once or twice a week for worship!  It is the body of Christ.  WE, as Jesus followers, are the body of Christ. His hands and feet.  It’s not just for us (although there is so much to drink from the well of a Bible believing, Bible preaching church!); it’s about joining together with other believers and worshiping our Maker.  This brings Him so much glory!  It’s about encouraging other believers in their walk with Christ, growing in our own walk and strengthening our faith which also brings Him great joy!

“I have no greater joy than to hear that my children are walking in the truth.” 3 John 1:4

I hope you are encouraged on this beautiful morning!  There’s so much more to our meeting together and being one body, I’ll have to save that for another post so we aren’t late for church 🙂

Happy Sunday friends 🙂

Good Morning!!!!

OK wow this is my first post and I’m a little nervous! But so excited about this journey!  I hope you will join along! 🙂

A verse I want to focus on this morning is 2 Timothy 3:16:

“All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness.” (NIV)

“All scripture is inspired by God and is useful to teach is what is true and to make us realize what is wrong in our lives. It corrects us when we are wrong and teaches us to do what is right.” (NLT)

I love both of these translations of this verse…The Bible is a book completely inspired by God; breathed into by God.  It’s not a book of stories or myths, nor is it a book of strictly law (because Jesus fulfilled the law), but a book of GRACE and Love.  There’s an amazing love story throughout the pages of this Book- the best one ever written!

If God is the Alpha and the Omega, the Beginning and the End, surely His Word is too??  But do we treat it as such?  There are so many awesome books out there about the Bible, so many great Bible studies and devotionals- and not that there is anything wrong with these- but when they take the place of our reading the actual Bible, we are missing out!  There is nothing like turning these pages of Scripture for ourselves and unfolding God’s great love for us.  It is so beautiful!  He uses it to not only speak to us but to teach us how to live.  Verse 17 says:

“God uses it to prepare and equip His people to do every good work.” 2Timothy 3:17

We can’t forget the purpose of the Bible– to equip us to do good, to do Christ’s work in the world and to strengthen our faith.

The Bible, like God, is solid.  It, like God, is as firm as a rock with it’s words lasting through all of time.  This is so amazing if you think about it!  There is no one greater than our God; there is no book greater than God’s Word. There is no one like our God; there is no book like His Word.  If God is good and God is love, this Book is too!

There are so many beautiful, amazing words in this one-of-a-kind book!  The only standard of truth, it’s a wealth of knowledge and a sea of unfailing love, mercy, hope and strength.  I hope you will join me as we journey through it together! 🙂
